You sit at the South seat. **North is your partner. East and West are AI opponents.** 24-card deck (9, 10, J, Q, K, A of each suit), 5-card hand, top of the leftover stack flipped face up as the "up-card." The point of the game is to take **tricks** — one round of four cards each, highest takes them all. Win 5 tricks per hand. Whoever wins the most tricks scores points. **First team to 10 points wins one game.** A run is up to 5 games; your leaderboard score is your team's total points across the run. ## What makes Euchre interesting 1. **Bidding for trump** — one suit becomes "trump" each hand, chosen in two bidding rounds. 2. **Bowers** — the J of trump (right bower) is the highest card in the deck; the J of the same color (left bower) is second-highest and counts as trump. 3. **Going alone** — your partner sits out the hand for a higher-payout 3-vs-1 attempt. 4. **Euchres** — failing to win 3 tricks after calling trump gives the defenders 2 points instead. ## Bidding - **Round 1, "Order it up"**: each player in turn passes or orders the up-card's suit as trump. If anyone orders, the dealer picks up the up-card and discards one. The orderer (caller) and their partner are on the line for at least 3 tricks. - **Round 2, "Call any other suit"**: if all four pass round 1, the up-card flips down and players can name any suit except the rejected one. - **All-pass round 2**: redeal (no "stick the dealer" in this version). - The caller may declare **alone** at bid time. Their partner sits out the entire hand face-down. ## Trump ranking (when ♠ is trump) ``` J♠ (right bower) > J♣ (left bower) > A♠ > K♠ > Q♠ > 10♠ > 9♠ ``` Off-suit cards rank A, K, Q, J, 10, 9 — except the J that became the left bower is no longer in its original suit. ## Scoring per hand | Caller's tricks | Alone | Points to | |-----------------|-------|----------------------------| | 5 (march) | no | 2 to caller's team | | 5 (march) | yes | 4 to caller's team | | 3 or 4 | (any) | 1 to caller's team | | 0, 1 or 2 | (any) | 2 to defenders ("euchre") | ## End conditions (run-level) - `cashout` — you stopped voluntarily between hands. - `win` — your team hit 10 in a game. - `loss` — opponent team hit 10 in a game. - `max_games` — the run hit the 5-game cap. Leaderboard score is total **points** scored by your team across the run (NS team if you sit South), tie-broken by `duration_ms` ascending. ## Determinism + anti-cheat - Mulberry32 PRNG, bit-identical between JS and PHP, drives the shuffle + every AI decision. - Replay validator rebuilds the hand-by-hand state from `seed + player_actions + ai_version` and rejects any run whose score doesn't match the simulator's recomputation. - AI version is recorded on the run so old replays still validate after AI tuning. ## Controls - **Mouse / touch**: click a card in your hand to play it; click bid buttons (Order up / Pass / Alone) when prompted. - **Keyboard**: number keys 1–5 select cards; Enter confirms; Esc passes. P = pause. ## Privacy / signup - No account required. Guests get an auto-generated username; rename anytime. - No tracking pixels, no analytics SDK, no third-party scripts. ## Genre / keywords euchre, midwestern euchre, browser euchre, free online euchre, html5 euchre, partnership trick-taking, bowers, going alone, march, euchred, mobile euchre, leaderboard, mgwalk, tglgames.com ## Author mgwalk — https://tglgames.com/
